In July 2024, the College of Communication and Information launched The Media Center, an integrated media program composed of WUOT, Land Grant Films, The Daily Beacon, WUTK, The Volunteer Channel, Ablaze Magazine, and Lumos Media Services.
Our goals are:
- to support and expand the existing media properties
- encourage collaboration and community engagement across our platforms
- more fully integrate The Media Center properties into the CCI curriculum.
This course introduces best practices that you can begin applying immediately to get the most out of your experience using software and equipment available to students involved with the various Media Center Outlets.
You will learn:
- Best practices and concepts of audio, cinematography, photography, and newsroom production
- How to use software such as:
- AP ENPS for creating scripts and rundowns for news programs
- AP Playbook for managing newsroom assignments and scheduling
- Adobe CC for audio, photo and video editing
- How to use equipment such as:
- Cameras for photography, video and television
- Microphones, audio consoles and recording devices
- Lighting fixtures and consoles
- Video switching, graphics and playback devices and software
- Teleprompter software and controller.
